Arvind Gupta
Dr. Arvind Gupta is a Professor of Computer Science and Academic Director, Professional Programs in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. He is a highly experienced senior leader with significant achievements in academia and industry, and he currently leads the Department of Computer Science’s bold new strategic initiatives portfolio. He previously served as President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of British Columbia (UBC), and as the CEO and Scientific Director of Mitacs Inc. He is also a founder of Palette Skills Inc., a federal not-for-profit dedicated to creating transition pathways to the knowledge economy. Dr. Gupta has a distinguished record of leading initiatives that strengthen Canada’s productivity and competitiveness by enhancing workforce skills through industry-academic partnerships. As the founder of Mitacs, he helped integrate graduate education with socio-economic needs, connecting some 60 universities with more than 1,000 civil society partners. Dr. Gupta has also published extensively on theoretical computer science, computational genomics, and national innovation strategies.
Stephanie Muccilli
Stephanie is a seasoned public policy professional with extensive experience in the federal government. She has held senior roles, including serving as Director of Policy to the Minister of Science, where she played a central role in shaping and advancing national science, research, and innovation agendas. Stephanie has a proven track record of delivering impactful policy outcomes, with deep expertise in the policymaking process and high-level stakeholder engagement. Her work has spanned multiple federal departments, giving her a comprehensive understanding of how government works—from policy development to implementation.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and a Master of Arts in Public and International Affairs from the University of Ottawa.
Annie Long
Annie Long is a senior innovation strategist with expertise in commercialization and venture support across Canada’s innovation ecosystem. At DMZ, she led investor relations, advising early-stage founders on fundraising strategy and expanding investor access to high-potential deal flow. She also spearheaded the redesign of the annual Women Innovation Summit to elevate engagement with corporate, investment, and ecosystem stakeholders.
At MaRS Discovery District, Annie held multiple roles supporting high-growth startups. She advised Cleantech and Health ventures on commercialization, continuously delivered portfolio insights to inform executive and corporate innovation strategy, and managed impact tracking for provincial innovation funding under the Ministry of Economic Development—including the competitive and highly subscribed Embedded Executive program.
She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, with a double major in Molecular Genetics and Psychology, and a minor in Sociology.
